Training & Development
 
We start as we mean to go on, so we offer a comprehensive induction plan. This consists of a one-day Company Induction followed by a half-day follow-up of internal department presentations giving a good overview of the business. All employees have the chance to visit our logistics centre in Leicestershire for the day to get a good understanding of how that works. The rest of the induction is done within the department.
 
Everyone has a personal development plan - training and development needs are addressed in a variety of ways, through workshops, shadowing, e-learning and coaching sessions. The workshops we will offer in 2009 focus on our key areas for competency development such as negotiation skills, time management and project management. From May 2009 we will have a brand new Management and Leadership Development programme to ensure that we develop inspirational leaders and effective managers.
 
We offer a development programme for our senior management, the Tech Data Academy. The top tier of managers from across Europe attend a programme covering key elements of leadership, coaching and business management.
 
The approach and commitment to learning and development comes from the top. The Board team regularly has team building days and execute coaching to ensure that their own personal development and growth is optimised. No-one is ever beyond developing, improving and learning!
